The Lexmark E232 laser printer I need to use at the office works for me in Ubuntu Linux 8.04 (Hardy Heron) if added in the “System -> Administration -> Printing” as a “Generic PCL 5c Printer” using the “CUPS+Gutenprint v5.0.2 Simplified” CUPS driver.

My 32 bit Ubuntu 7.10 (gutsy) system didn’t automagically configure the Epson Perfection V10 USB-scanner my employer keeps at the office, but following instructions posted on Ubuntuforums.org appears to have solved the problem.
I also made backup copies of both the current Epson drivers from avasys.jp and the Ubuntuforums post, see http://misc.nybergh.net/pub/drivers/epson_perfection_v10_linux/.
